*** CNYE Night ***

Tonight, there was 8th Chinese New Year Extravaganza Nigt (CNYE) in campus.
During that week, we had also a series of activities held by the Chinese Language Society (CLS)
such as tang yuen competition, Paper Art Class, Cultural exhibition, Spring Carnival etc. But i joint none of them :p

Yeah... this year i was rather weird, I'm not looking forward to chinese new year. Perhaps too many things happened recently and blew away my spring mood :p

I went to puduraya bus station to get my ticket back on Thursday afternoon for the Friday Haji break and forgot about the CNYE night.

When I reached campus, it was already 7pm, i rushed back home to get a shower and flied all the way to campus. It's good that we were still early :p when i reached there at 7:30....

After all the speeches by VIP, the drama started at 9:15, oh my god.. this is what we call the chinese culture ---LATE
Unlike the previous year, there was no dance performance or singing going on. It was solely drama , oh... :( then it must be pretty boring, feeling rather disappointed.

The storyline in this drama revolves around the issues pertaining superstition, chinese education and also the status of chinese female in the society.

The story begins with two neighbour of different background, Yip family was western minded and the Zhang family had very conservative oriental kind of thinking. Coincidently, both of the family were running pharmacy business. They always fight against each other and banned their children from mixing together.

However, the conflict of elder generation did not stop the younger ones from making friends. Instead, they were very good buddies. Both of their daughters, Hui Ping and Jacklyn were close friends, but Hui Ping was lesbian :p She was in love with Jacklyn and this had ruin their friendship. Because she was into girl, she could not accept Ah Mao who was going after her. Ah Mao was from a rich family but abit sot sot one keke... The traditional Yip family could not accept their daughter dating a girl and forbided her from going out as they were afraid this would bring a big news around the neighbourhood and damage their reputation.

At the mean time, both of their sons were best friends who always played together and encouraged each other to fight for their dreams. Unfortunately, their parents strongly against their ambition, saying that they had to go on with their family business and sticked to what they have planned for them. Finally Zhang's son had chosen to commit suicide to end his misery... From this event, the Yip's family had learnt a lesson and allowed their son to pursue his dream...

It was a touching story.... for the first time CLS had change a different perspective for the theme of 8th CNYE. But of cos, my mood was already down and watching this had given me more things to ponder... haha anyway... the drama was ok... not as interesthing as the 6th CNYE performance..

But, tonight is a night I will remember.
